The village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region was liberated by Ukrainian defenders
Over the past week, Ukrainian forces liberated about 4 km2 on the Bakhmut axis and 12,7 km2 in the south of Ukraine.
In particular, the settlement of Staromaiorske in the east of Ukraine was freed from Russian occupation due to a successful counter-offensive operation carried out by the Ukrainian 35th Separate Marine Brigade and the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade “Arei”.
As the Spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Kovalov, reported on July 28, 2023, “under intense enemy aviation and artillery fire, Ukrainian soldiers liberated the settlement of Staromayorske in the Donetsk region and are consolidating along the achieved frontlines”.
At the same time, Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Rivnopillia and Makarivka in the Donetsk region.
Over the past week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted successful offensive actions on the southern flank of the Bakhmut axis and continued to advance, informed Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine. The fierce battles are currently taking place in the areas of Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kurdiumivka. In particular, Ukrainian forces liberated about 4 km2 from Russian occupation on the Bakhmut axis during the past week. In total, the Ukrainian military has already taken back 35 km2 of Ukrainian territory on this axis since the start of the offensive.
In their turn, Russian invaders have continued their active assault and offensive actions on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarsk axes, but have not succeeded.
In the south, the offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdiansk axes are ongoing. Particularly, Ukrainian defenders achieved success in the areas of Verbove, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Novodarivka, Pryiutne, Mala Tokmachka, and Novosilka. The Ukrainian military took back 12,7 km2 in the south of Ukraine over the past week. In total, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated 192,1 km2 in the south of the country from Russian occupation.
As of July 28, 2023, the total combat losses of Russian aggressors in Ukraine amount to approximately 244,830 troops. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian defenders have destroyed 4,190 Russian tanks, 8,161 armored vehicles, 4,775 artillery systems, 4,007 enemy UAVs, and 1,347 cruise missiles.
