The village of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region has been liberated by Ukrainian defenders
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct the offensive operation on Melitopol and Berdiansk axes and consolidate their positions.
Ukrainian defenders liberated the village of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, confirmed Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, on August 16. The offensive operation is ongoing, added Maliar.
General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported that during the day of August 15, the Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit four artillery systems at their firing positions, one anti-aircraft missile system, and one other important target.
At the same time, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive near the cities of Marinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensives south of Avdiivka, the Donetsk region, southeast of Vilshany, and east of Petropavlivka, the Kharkiv region. The enemy also made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost position in the vicinity of Urozhaine, the Donetsk region.
Earlier, on August 14, Hanna Maliar reported that in a week, Ukrainian defenders liberated 3 km2 on the Bakhmut axis. In total, the Ukrainian military has already taken back 40 km2 of Ukrainian territory on this axis since the start of the counteroffensive.
