Ukrainian forces liberated Kherson
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue a counteroffensive in the South of Ukraine as Russia is withdrawing its forces to the left bank of the Dnipro river. Ukrainian defenders are approaching the city of Kherson, and Special Operations Forces are already there, reported President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the evening of November 11.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on November 11 the AFU reached the right bank of the Dnipro river in some places in the Kherson region. Dozens of towns and villages were liberated from Russian occupation.
In Kherson, though the city is not yet fully cleared of Russian units, local people are removing Russian occupation symbols, returning Ukrainian flags to the streets and building, and greeting Ukrainian forces. “I am happy to see how people – despite all the threats, repression and abuse of the occupiers – protected the Ukrainian flags and believed in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
Also, in the result of the counteroffensive, almost all the Mykolaiv region (except for the Kinburn Spit) was liberated from Russian forces, reported Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration. The water pipeline from the Dnipro river was returned under Ukrainian control, which will make it possible to restore the drinking water supply to Mykolaiv after demining and repairs.
