Ukrainian defenders liberated 18 square kilometers over the past week


With the ongoing offensive actions in the southern and eastern directions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated 210,5 square kilometers from Russian occupation in total.

“In the south, Ukrainian forces continue offensive actions on the Melitopol and Berdiansk axes. They had success in the area of Makarivka, Staromaiorske, Novodarivka, Pryiutne, Mala Tokmachka, Novopokrovka, Piatykhatky, and Hrozove,” stated Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

Maliar added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated 179,5 km2 in total in the south of the country from Russian occupation.

According to Maliar, over the past week, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 134 units of Russian weapons and military equipment, as well as 36 enemy ammunition warehouses and 2 fuel depots on the Tavriia axis in the south of Ukraine. Moreover, the Ukrainian military took 50 Russian soldiers captive.

In the east of the country, Ukrainian forces keep advancing, as well. In particular, counter-offensive actions are currently taking place in the southern flank of Bakhmut. According to the Deputy Minister of Defense, Ukrainian defenders liberated 7 km2 of Ukrainian territory from Russian occupation on the Bakhmut axis in the past week. In total, the Ukrainian military has already taken back 31 km2 of Ukrainian territory on this axis since the start of the offensive.
