Ukrainian defenders have already liberated 169 square kilometers in the south of Ukraine from Russian occupation

The active offensive actions of Ukrainian forces on the Melitopol and Berdiansk axes are ongoing. Since their launch, the total area of liberated territory there is 169 km2, which is about the same as the area of Odesa.

Just over the last week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated more than 10 km2 in the south of the country from Russian occupation.

“Over the past week, Ukrainian forces also took back 4 km2 on the Bakhmut axis. In total, about 24 km2 of Ukrainian land have been liberated on the Bakhmut axis (since the start of the offensive – ed.),” added the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the same time, about 7,184 Russian shelling were recorded in the Eastern direction over the past week. According to Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Russian troops used 343,402 artillery and missile shells to attack Ukrainian positions. While on the Tavriia axis, in the south of Ukraine, the enemy fired at Ukrainian troops 4,318 times.

Maliar also stated that Ukrainian defenders carried out 79 strikes on locations with Russian occupiers over the last week. Ukrainian forces destroyed 8 enemy command posts, 17 electronic warfare stations, 11 ammunition depots, 24 anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as shot down 39 out of 67 Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 drones used by Russian invaders.
