According to preliminary information, this occurred near one of the observation points near the village of Stepove in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region.

Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, published a video of the execution of unarmed Ukrainian defenders on his Telegram page.

“This shows a disregard for international humanitarian law! The Russian side once again reveals its face as a terrorist! (…) Such crimes are the responsibility of the highest leadership of the Russian Federation! All must face punishment!” emphasized Lubinets.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has already initiated a pre-trial investigation into violating the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.

“The murder of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime,” stated the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

This is just one of many examples of Russia violating the laws and customs of war, regarding Ukrainian POWs in particular. Shaving Ukrainian servicewomen in captivity, starvation and inhumane condition of Ukrainian POWs from Azovstal, mass murder in Olenivka, and execution of the Ukrainian defender for the words “Glory to Ukraine / Slava Ukraini”… Mentioned cases are just a part of many recorded war crimes against Ukrainian POWs since 2014.
