Unmute war

Air raid alert!

Do you dare to hear how sirens in Ukraine sound right now?

Feel at least 1% of the despair that Ukrainians go through every day when they hear this sound. After these moments they know that destruction and death is coming.

In real life, Ukrainians can’t just turn off that sound. It can cost them their lives.

Beyond evil, even during war

EVENWARHASRULES

Many decades ago, the international community decided to stop large-scale deaths of civilians during wars and armed conflicts. Thus the rules of war were created, which forbade the killing of civilians, the infliction of harm and torture on prisoners, and the launching of lethal weapons into unprotected settlements.

Despite the fact that the rules of war are set out in international treaties such as the Geneva Conventions, the Rome Statute, and other international laws and agreements, many of which Russia is a signatory to.

RUSSIAIGNORESRULES

These rules are now being cynically and unscrupulously violated by thousands of Russian soldiers sent to Ukraine by their dictator, Putin.

To bomb. To destroy.
To commit mass murder.

WARCRIMESREPRESENTABSOLUTEEVIL

They include excessive brutality in wartime, when a military deliberately attacks peaceful civilians, and civilian infrastructure, kills women and children, and targets humanitarian missions.

It also includes the use of weapons and ammunition designed to kill civilians indiscriminately on a large scale.

The Russian Federation and all the war criminals
it has sent to Ukraine will bear the most serious responsibility
for the evil they have committed.

We carefully document every crime and every atrocity.
All responsible will be undoubtedly held accountable.

The examples of war crimes below are just a tiny part
of all the terror and horrors taking place in Ukraine now.

But enough to understand one thing:

Murder of innocents

Background

“Persons taking no active part in the hostilities shall in all circumstances be treated humanely.”

Art. 3. P.1. IV Geneva Convention. 12.08.1949

This section is dedicated to the innocent people Russia has brutally killed during its war against Ukraine. These people had no military uniform nor weapons, and they did not perform any military work. These are ordinary people, just like you and your family. Many of them are children. And they were murdered.
245 innocent children were killed during the initial month of Russia’s war against Ukraine

“She called a taxi, packed up, and she and her son Vanya left the house. At that moment, a Russian tank fired at them. They were buried right in the yard of the apartment complex. There was no other way out.”

Olga, a friend of Marina Met, who was killed in Irpin

THE RUSSIANS KILLED FAR MORE INNOCENTS.
HELP PRESERVE THEIR MEMORY.

Attacking civilians or civilian objects

Background

«Civilian objects shall not be the object of attack or of reprisals. Attacks shall be limited strictly to military objectives.»

Art. 52. Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions. 08.06.1977

This section focuses on Russia’s savage attacks against civilian buildings and infrastructure. What is Russia's target in this war? Peaceful family homes. Hospitals where people are already fighting for their lives. Kindergartens, schools, and even bomb shelters. They are trying to destroy people’s last hope for survival, right now as you are reading this.
Russian troops have destroyed more than 6,800 civilian infrastructure facilities. Power plants, schools, kindergartens, and numerous residential buildings

“People began to kindle fires at the entrance to the basement to cook food. The first firewood was the frames from the balconies, which were broken by shells.”

says an eyewitness to the destruction of Chernihiv

THE MAIN TARGET OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY IS UKRAINIAN CIVILIANS. AND HERE ARE THE CONSEQUENCES.

Wanton destruction of settlements

Background

“…wanton destruction of cities, towns, or villages, or devastation
not justified by military necessity is a war crime.”

Principle VI(b) of the 1950 Nuremberg Principles

Up until February 24, Ukrainian cities were full of life. They prospered. They grew. Mariupol, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel... The streets of these cities were like any others in Europe, teeming with peaceful people living their lives. Now, after Russia’s brutal invasion, only fear, death, and despair are spreading on these streets.
Since the start of their invasion, the Russians have fired approximately 1000 missiles at Ukrainian cities and towns

“We were driving around the city, and corpses were lying around. Women, men, children. We tried to distract our children in the car so they wouldn’t look there. It’s horrible.”

writes Mykola, who managed to escape from blockaded Mariupol.

THE RUSSIANS ARE DESTROING OUR CITIES TO THE GROUND. FIND THE TRUTH.

Hostages & Torture

Background

“each of them is prohibited from taking any measure of such a character as to cause the physical suffering … of protected persons in their hands. This prohibition applies not only to … torture … but also to any other measures of brutality whether applied by civilian or military agents.”

Art. 32. P.3. IV Geneva Convention. 12.08.1949

“The taking of hostages is prohibited.”

Art. 32, 34 P.1. IV Geneva Convention. 12.08.1949

Every day the world learns more and more about the horrors committed by Russian soldiers in Ukraine. No one is spared from their barbaric aggression, neither unarmed men, women or children. They are taking city deputies, journalists, and their relatives as hostages to try to pressure and silence Ukrainians from reporting Russia’s crimes.
It is impossible to count how many civilians the Russians captured and tortured

“I went outside and was taken away. Russians beat me for about an hour. They broke my jaws. Beat my head 10 times. They tried to cut off my finger, then broke it.”

said Ihor, a civilian who survived Russian imprisonment

#BuchaMassacre. Dead civilians are found in Bucha with their hands tied and traces of torture and inhumane treatment.

UKRAINIANS ARE GOING THROUGH THEIR DARKEST TIMES.

Unlawful deportation

Background

“Individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory to the territory of Occupying Power or to that of any other country, occupied or not, are prohibited, regardless of their motive.”

Art. 49. P.3. IV Geneva Convention. 12.08.1949

We will tell you stories about how Russia cynically organized mass forced deportations of people from the territories occupied by its troops. Women and children were forcibly put on buses, taken to Russia, and then sent even farther away to distant parts of Russia.
Russia deported more than 100,000 civilians from Ukraine

“Some elderly people I know and whom I met at the distribution point did not know where they were going and why. They thought they could stay in Rostov for a couple of months and maybe return to Mariupol. Instead Russians took them to Samara. They did not know what to do there, and accommodation was provided for only two weeks.”

said Iryna, a refugee from Mariupol (an interview with the BBC)

WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY UKRAINIAN WILL RETURN HOME SOMEDAY.

BUT FIRST, THE GUILTY MUST BE PUNISHED.

Attack against religion & culture

Background

“…damage to cultural property belonging to any people whatsoever means damage to the cultural heritage of all mankind, since each person makes its contribution to the culture of the world.”

Introduction to Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. 14.05.1954

This war was started not only to kill Ukrainians — Russia also set out to destroy Ukraine’s history, culture, and pride in their ancestors. Russians are destroying Ukraine’s museums, galleries, and churches to wipe out the Ukrainian nation and its unique, proud culture.
Russian troops have committed more than 331 war crimes against cultural heritage sites in Ukraine

“It has become known that there have been cases of occupiers firing positions in temples or directly near temples in the occupied territories. This shows their absolute immorality, and indifference to the church, to religion as such.”

Archbishop Evstratiy Zorya (an interview for Radio Liberty)

RUSSIANS DESTROY UKRAINIAN CULTURE – OUR PAST AND OUR MEMORIES. HELP US TO BE HEARD.

Rapes

Background

“Women shall be especially protected against any attack on their honour, in particular against rape, enforced prostitution, or any form of indecent assault.”

Art. 3. P.1. IV Geneva Convention. 12.08.1949

More and more evidence is emerging every day from women who escaped or were liberated from the occupied territories and told how the Russian occupiers raped them. Russian soldiers raped these women at night. During the day. In front of their children. After the Russians had murdered the women’s husbands. The abhorrent cruelty of these crimes cannot go unpunished.

“Dude, my bro is there. Look, he says, I drove into the yard in a tank… He says I went into the house and took out the fucking door. He shot everyone, fucked them, he says, raped them.”

an excerpt from an intercepted conversation between Russian soldiers

THIS IS NOT FROM A HORROR FILM. IT’S EVIDENCE OF WAR CRIMES HAPPENING TO UKRAINIAN WOMEN RIGHT NOW. THE VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF THESE CRIMES DESERVE WORLDWIDE ATTENTION.

Willtherebejustice?

Yes, there will be justice. The Ukrainian government is investigating war crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine.

Due to Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine, 42 countries have already appealed to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to launch an investigation. If the court rules against Russia, the people who perpetrated these crimes can be detained in any country that recognizes the jurisdiction of this court.

Thisisjustthebeginning.

TheinternationalcommunityisdeterminedtocondemnRussiaandholdittoaccountfortheseheinouscrimes.

HOWTODEFEATEVIL?

Just as the world persecuted and restored justice in the twentieth century for
every criminal of the Nazi regime in their atrocities against humanity and life,
Ukraine will not give up until all the guilty are punished.

We are collecting evidence and eyewitness reports, including horrific photos and
videos, so that the court can hand down a punishing sentence on the perpetrators
of these war crimes.

EVERY VOICE MATTERS!

You too can help in this effort to expose Russia’s heinous crimes against Ukraine and her people — wherever you are, shed light on Russia’s atrocities and war crimes. Help us spread the truth and publicly condemn Putin's criminal regime.
