In the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv, a farewell ceremony was held for the senior lieutenant, commander of the sniper special forces reconnaissance group of “Azov”, Ihor Lyndiuk, callsign “Єгерь” (“The Hunter”). On March 23, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the city of Mariupol, he was mortally injured. The body was identified only months later, which made it possible to carry out the burial. Yurii Moroz, a soldier of the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine, died in the Donetsk region on April 16, 2023. On April 24, a farewell ceremony for Ukrainian defenders was held on Independence Square in Kyiv: this tradition appeared during the Revolution of Dignity, in which Yurii was an active participant. Fellow soldiers, close friends, and acquaintances came to say goodbye to Yurii. The soldier was buried in Borova, the Kyiv region.
Yurii Moroz voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014, fought in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, participated in the Battle at Svitlodarsk Arc, and was demobilized in 2015. The fighter was fascinated by the history of Ukraine, organized historical reconstructions and camps for children and youth, studied theology at the theological seminary, and participated in the “Language Maidan” in 2012, as well as in the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. Ukrainian soldier Serhii is 21. Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, the man was an administrator in a brand store. Currently, Serhii is one of the commanders in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade “Edelveis”, taking part in hostilities near Bakhmut. May 11, 2023.
“Before the assault, we chose certain tactics: the number of people and military groups. Each group had its task. My responsibility as a commander was to lead people, control the course of the battle, and show confidence and authority. If my people see the passion and fighting spirit in my eyes, they will follow me to the end and be motivated themselves,” shares Serhii.
A few days later, Serhii will be wounded during the assault and will spend several months in the hospital. Now, he is back and fighting again.
