To Defenders of Freedom

While Amil and Ramil from the hip-hop group Kurgan & Agregat are volunteering, their colleague Zhenya is serving in the territorial defense

The musicians and classmates come from the village of Blyznyuky in the Kharkiv region. The guys work in the style of hip-hop and actively use their local surzhyk (a mixture of the Ukrainian and Russian languages used in some areas of Ukraine) in their lyrics. They recorded their first music videos on a smartphone, but now they are famous artists and give concerts all across Ukraine. But when Russia launched a full-scale invasion on February 24, they immediately began to help.

First, Zhenya Volodchenko bought food for the military, then volunteered at the train station, where women, children, and people with disabilities were being evacuated. The guy is a fighter in the “Kraken — Azov” special unit. Meanwhile, his friends Amil and Ramil Nasirov are raising money for the military, buying ammunition, medicine, and other necessities.

“I was born and raised in a Ukrainian village. We did not live grandly. Now there’s a war going on. But I am still happy that 30 years ago, my parents moved to this country”, said Amil, whose parents are from Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Zhenya shares his confidence in talks with journalists: Ukraine will win.
