Olexander Makhov, a 36-year-old military journalist, was killed in shelling by the occupiers

Oleksandr Makhov was born in Luhansk and worked for many years on the Ukraine and Ukraine 24 TV channels. He was the only reporter on board the plane that evacuated from the city of Wuhan during the 2020 pandemic. Since the start of hostilities in Donbas in 2014, the journalist has been actively covering the frontline. The man went to the front after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. “The time of the war of liberation has come! I will fight and kill as much as I have the strength for. I serve the Ukrainian people!”

His girlfriend, Anastasiia Blyshchyk, a TV journalist too, was waiting for the soldier at home. The couple had been together for several years. On the frontline, Olexander decided to propose to his beloved. The engagement ring was from a grenade. But on May 4, the life of the journalist and soldier ended. The man died from shelling by Russian invaders in the Kharkiv region, near Izyum.

Eternal memory to the hero! We will never forget!
