To Defenders of Freedom

Lutsk resident Nataliia and her daughter joined the Volyn territorial defense

Lutsk resident Nataliia and her daughter joined the Volyn territorial defense.

Before the war, Nataliia Popozohlo ran her own atelier. On the morning of February 24, she went to the military commissariat to defend her Motherland. She even took warm clothes, a metal bowl, and a spoon on the advice of her husband, a lieutenant colonel. However, she was not allowed to join the army as she didn’t have any military experience. She was saved by her diploma as a cooking technologist, which she had once received from a vocational school. At first, it was hard to get used to the military uniform, but now she feels very comfortable in it.

In the early days, her daughter Veronika helped her feed the soldiers. But on February 28, the girl also joined the territorial defense unit. Now, together with her mother, they cook for the whole brigade and they have already learned to shoot accurately. After Ukraine’s victory, they dream of visiting Nataliia’s eldest daughter — this was their New Year’s wish, which must come true.

“I came here not for thrills, I came to help achieve Victory! We will drive them to Moscow itself. And if needed, even farther,” the woman boldly states.
