Former teacher Liubov Plaksiuk became the first female head of the artillery unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Since school, Mrs. Liubov has dreamed of a military career, but her relatives refused her such a decision. Instead, the woman entered the pedagogical faculty and later worked as a history teacher. The events in eastern Ukraine forced Liubov Plaksiuk to change her life.

Liubov Plaksiuk has been defending Ukraine since 2016. Her story proves that stereotypes about women in the military are long obsolete. On the morning of February 24, 2022, the lieutenant was in eastern Ukraine as commander of the battery of the self-propelled artillery division. Her seven-year-old son is waiting for her at home in the Zhytomyr region. Liubov’s family is proud of her, and her military colleagues support the woman.

In May 2022, she became the first woman to lead an artillery unit of the Armed Forces.

Good luck to you, heroine!
