‘Curly,’ a senior lieutenant, defends Ukraine from Russian occupiers
A 29-year-old from Ivano-Frankivsk has served in the army for almost 10 years. She is a senior lieutenant in the National Guard of Ukraine. When the full-scale Russian invasion began, almost all of her brigade was in the Luhansk oblast. Right there and then they waded into battle. Even though Ukrainians and her brothers and sisters had prepared for the Russian invasion, she didn’t expect the enemy to shell cities.
‘Curly’ dispels a myth about the absence of women in the military with her service. She is convinced that everyone in the modern world can choose their vocation. Despite all the challenges of military service, she stays positive: “We have a unique chance to destroy a tremendous evil that for so many years has prevented us from being ourselves”.
