Christina returned to defend Ukraine after 10 years of living in Italy

The 29-year-old Ukrainian worked in an Italian supermarket and moonlighted as a wedding singer. She lived abroad with her family. But due to rising military tensions near Ukraine’s eastern borders over the past year, she returned home.

“There is always a risk of saying farewell to life itself. But we are not afraid of death; we are afraid to be slaves. I will remain on my land up until the last moment,” Christina told Vice.
