The Russians fired on the Sviatohirsk Lavra in the Donetsk region, so the wooden building of 1912 burned down

On June 4, the Russian military fired on the Sviatohirsk Lavra in the Donetsk region. As a result, the wooden building of the All Saints Hermitage caught fire. The fire completely destroyed the main temple of the monastery. The Department of Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church shared this news.

“They know that there are no military targets on the territory of the Sviatohirsk Lavra. It is known that there are about 300 civilians, including 60 children. But still, the Russian army is shelling the Lavra, as well as the whole Donbas,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, commented on the crime.
Sviatohirsk Lavra suffers from shellings not for the first time during the war. On June 1, Russian shells exploded in the cells of the Lavra monks. Four people died, and four others were seriously injured.
