Russia launched an airstrike on Kostiantynivka: a postal terminal was hit
On August 9, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy attacked the city with a Kh-38 missile and hit the shopping centre.
As of 3 p.m. Kyiv time, at least eleven people were killed and 44 more were injured, reported the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Update: As of 6 p.m. Kyiv time, the death toll has increased to thirteen people. 43 more victims were injured, informed the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Update: As of August 10, the rubble removal was finished. A total of 14 people were killed and 44 more were injured, reported Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The Russian missile fire resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure in the city. According to preliminary information, a shopping centre with a supermarket and “Nova Poshta” postal terminal, as well as nine shops, were damaged. Four private houses, a car wash, and twelve autos were also affected.
In particular, the “Nova Poshta” postal terminal in the shopping centre suffered from the Russian airstrike: one employee sustained a concussion. According to the press service of the “Nova Poshta” postal operator, some of the shiments survived the hit. The estimated value of the destroyed cargo will be fully compensated to the customers.
“Russia will be held accountable for this terror, and we will do our best to ensure that the world continues to stand with Ukraine in supporting our defence and saving the lives of our people,” commented President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the Russian terrorist act.
