Russia hit the central city market in Kostiantynivka
On September 6, at about 2 p.m. Kyiv time, Russian troops shelled the central market in the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Due to an enemy attack, at least 16 civilians were killed and 33 more injured.
As a result of the Russian shells hit, a fire broke out in the trade pavilions. According to preliminary information, 20 shops, power lines, an administrative building, and a residential building were damaged. Nearby parked passenger cars and 8 commercial facilities were completely burnt. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with an area of about 300 square meters.
As the Prosecutor General’s Office reports, as of 4 p.m, 16 civilians were killed in the Russian attack. Another 31 people received injuries of varying severity and have been getting medical care. A search and rescue operation is currently underway. There are still people under the rubble.
As of 6 p.m., the search and rescue operation has been completed. As Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine informed, 17 people were killed and 32 more injured.
According to the updated information, 16 people were killed and 33 more injured due to a Russian attack on Kostiantynivka, reported the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to Tetiana Tiurina, Head of the Department of Information Activities and Communications with the Public of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, the type of weapon Russian forces fired is still being specified.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to another terrorist act of Russia on his Facebook page: “When someone in the world still attempts to deal with anything Russian, it means turning a blind eye to this reality. The audacity of evil. The brazenness of wickedness. Utter inhumanity”.
