Kherson under fire: Russian forces continue to shell the city

In the afternoon of February 21, Russia shelled Kherson from the “Grad” multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).
In particular, Russian troops hit residential areas, critical infrastructure facilities, a kindergarten, a hospital, private garages, and cars. Several multi-apartment buildings were significantly damaged, and some apartments caught fire due to a direct hit. The attacks also targeted a local market and a public transport stop, the Operational Command “South” reports.
According to the Kherson City Council, 5 people were killed, 16 more were injured and hospitalized. The victims were provided with medical care.

“The Russian army is heavily shelling Kherson. Again mercilessly killing the civilian population. My condolences to all those who have lost loved ones today. (…) The terrorist state will be responsible for all its inhumane crimes against our people and Ukraine,” wrote President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Kherson region has also been under attack: Russian forces shelled it 58 times over the past day and killed 2 civilians, the Kherson Regional Military Administration reports.
